2 hours before midnight of April 15, the day when the ban on flights from Russia to Turkey began to operate, I landed in Istanbul. A city with its own restrictions and empty streets.
It is a unique opportunity to visit a big, busy city during a lockdown, when the prohibitions do not apply to you. Lazy obese dogs, playful cats and sly seagulls have taken over the city. These are the only inhabitants a privileged tourist could communicate with without a mask and the phrase social distance. All the residents of Istanbul could not leave their apartments, and I could do this and even proudly walk past the police with a camera and a cup of latte, because I am a Tourist who managed to fly beyond the closing borders!
All this reminded me of Alec Soth's Dog Days, and this series is born.
